I spent my morning and afternoon working on a new map, which will be for CC4 hopefully. Heavily influenced by Erik Alm (the usual) and Kim Malde, it's intended to be some sort of sewer, akin to Malde's Map10 out of AV.

Old New Map
Hi kids. Once, many months ago, I had an idea that I quite often tended to have, and that was to rework one of my speedmapping reworks. This time I attempted to tackle Gyrotechnics.
While I admit that Gyrotechnics had its flaws, I nonetheless don't understand some of the comments it received. One /idgames reviewer, for instance, said of it, "I actually prefer the older version. The newer one is so overdone it's practically a joke wad." Sounds to me like someone has a phobia for detail... is it totally consistent and coherent? No. And if I were to rework it again, it certainly wouldn't look like it did before. In fact, it might look something more like this:

But alas, it's up to preference. My bias is pretty undeniable, but from my attempt at an objective viewpoint, it's not at all a bad map. Or, at least, not even close to a joke wad.

New Map
Because I so enjoyed the texture pack I worked with for Not Quite Vegas, I wanted to try making a larger map using the texture pack. I had been playing some CC3 lately and the size of some of the episode 2/3 maps has inspired me to make something larger, hence this effort. I did sign up for a CC4 slot, which I want to have done within the next month or two, but this map here is not what I had in mind for that. Another single map release would be nice, just to put myself on the front again...

GUYS
This is the first post. Lorem ipsum.
And so here begins my revival of activity in the Doom community.
Today I mapped for a while, jamming to the map11 track of SC2 for motivation. I will post screenshots soon, though certainly it'll only really be myself I'll be posting them for. But I hope this mapping journal will help me stay motivated.
